No, that’s not per gallon. That’s per liter.

Italian Living Posted on June 24, 2016 by DanitaDecember 4, 2016

In Feb/March in Colorado, we were seeing gas prices in the $1.80 per gallon range.  This is per liter, so at 1.46 that’s about $5.00 a gallon.  That’s actually pretty cheap if you ask me!  I’ve seen gas in Europe … Continue reading →

L’Amor degli svizzeri

Italian Living Posted on June 20, 2016 by DanitaDecember 4, 2016

The very first time we were in Borgo Val di Taro, I noticed a pastry/wine & spirits shop called “Steckli”.  Well, that’s a very Swiss name!  I didn’t think much about it, but now that we’re “locals” I wanted to … Continue reading →

A taste of home

Italian Living Posted on June 18, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

If you know me, you know I’m a popcorn fanatic.  When we arrived in May, we had only a few things that were perhaps “odd” to bring to Italy.  I brought a large carry case of essential oils, and I … Continue reading →

Italian Living Posted on June 16, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

In the States, zucchini blossoms were so difficult to find, or when I did find them they were so expensive, that I was known to garden zucchini plants SOLELY for their blossoms – hehe. Here they are very accessible in … Continue reading →

Use whatever toilet you like

Italian Living Posted on June 5, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

In the US it seems that there is continual controversy about where folks should be able to pee.  Not so much in Italy.     This is one of the many places where Europe simply doesn’t see such a big … Continue reading →

Election Day

Italian Living Posted on June 5, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

Joe has never voted in an Italian election.  Look at that smile!     Italy needs “Ho votato” stickers to wear around on election day!

Did I ever tell you my Italian train stories?

Italian Living Posted on June 4, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

When we went to Lucca this week for the Graham Nash concert, we had our first Italian train frustration in at least a decade.  But it brought back some interesting memories.  The morning went according to plan. IKEA made it … Continue reading →

An Evening with Graham Nash

Italian Living Posted on June 3, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

Two front row tickets to caller 11 Okay – so it really wasn’t quite like that!  But last night we spent an evening in the front row at Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, courtesy of the Graham Nash Facebook team! … Continue reading →

Sofa bed is here – where are the guests?

Italian Living Posted on June 2, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

Hurray for IKEA.  I was a little panicked!  We’ve had our delivery for our sofa bed scheduled for today for at least a week.  That’s no problem.  I was happy to wait a week.  But I ended up with a … Continue reading →

Ci sono tanti Zanrè qua

Italian Living Posted on May 31, 2016 by DanitaSeptember 14, 2019

I keep meaning to post this.  In the US, when they ask about our name, Zanrè, people say “that doesn’t sound Italian”.  And indeed it doesn’t.  Even up here in BorgoTaro it’s pronounced more French and less Italian.  There is … Continue reading →
