Hurray for IKEA.  I was a little panicked!  We’ve had our delivery for our sofa bed scheduled for today for at least a week.  That’s no problem.  I was happy to wait a week.  But I ended up with a horrible conflict! I committed to an event that I thought was TOMORROW, and it ended up being today.  Because we are without car, we had to take a train today, and if we didn’t get on said train by 12:30 PM we’d miss our engagement.  I DID NOT want to miss our engagement.

I phoned IKEA, and they assured me that our delivery would be here no later than 11:00 AM.  They were actually a few minutes early.  They delivered our sofa bed (see below), a corner desk, a bookcase/cabinet, and a little balcony sized half-circle table.  When they arrived, they asked if we have an elevator.  Well of course we do!  Even though we don’t generally use it (unless we’re carrying a lot of groceries).  Imagine their chagrin when the sofa bed was too long to fit in the elevator (well, turned on its side it was too tall).  Hey – that’s what we paid a delivery charge for!  So 5 flights of stairs.  Ready, set, go!

Only 1/2 a flight left guys!

It was easier to put together than most IKEA furniture I’ve dealt with.  Really all that was required was to slide the arms into place and tighten some bolts.

Time for guests!

Now we just have to hope that our various train connections go smoothly!
