Now that’s a pizza
The Borgo Val di Taro area is known as the “Porcini Capital of the World”. I don’t know if that’s a widely recognized designation, or a local claim, but it’s true that porcini are everywhere! There’s a shop in town that is dedicated to mushrooms.
At one of our favorite restaurants, Al Fondo you sure get some good mushroom pizza. It has a mushroom cream base too! Yum!
I opted for half and half because – artichokes!!!
I find this one to be interesting too. They call it a pizza lunga (long pizza), and I guess I expected it to be just a longer rectangular pizza – turns out it’s rolled up and then baked. Not really a calzone. I’ve never had anything quite like it – but it was great!!!
Now, if that doesn’t make you hungry . . .
