Blue Apron Fan? I wonder if they do that in Italy?

Italian Living Posted on April 12, 2017 by DanitaApril 21, 2017

I’m a good cook. I’ve cooked most of my life, and I have great role models in my family who are wonderful cooks! I’ve never been interested in sites like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, etc., because I know how to cook, know how to put together recipes, and have generally kept my family well fed. Betty wasn’t vaccinated

Italian Living Posted on March 30, 2017 by DanitaSeptember 16, 2017

In the great “downsizing” of 2015, when we sold our house and began our “empty nester” years, I whittled away at my book collection. Many books were given away or sold. I kept only those that I felt a strong … Continue reading →

Italian Living Posted on December 2, 2016 by DanitaFebruary 17, 2018

If you have ever traveled outside of your home country (or in many cases, outside of your home region), you know that “ethnic” foods morph into versions that are different.  Sometimes better, sometimes worse, sometimes just different.  I give you Exhibit A for different.

Flash from the past

Italian Living Posted on November 30, 2016 by DanitaFebruary 17, 2018

Joe needed a haircut, so today he went into the same barber shop that his father dragged him into as a child in 1966!  Different barber though 🙂 He seemed more eager this time!

What’s with the dirt?!?

Italian Living Posted on November 29, 2016 by DanitaOctober 7, 2017

No one has ever accused me of being an obsessive housekeeper.  I keep things “clean”.  But please never try to do a white glove test anywhere in my house, and do not expect to be able to “eat off of … Continue reading →

Our first Thanksgiving in Italy

Italian Living Posted on November 25, 2016 by DanitaFebruary 8, 2017

I remember my first Thanksgiving ever away from my family.  I was 18, and a foreign exchange student in Switzerland.  Thanksgiving Day came and went, and we talked a little about the American holiday, but that was all there was … Continue reading →
